How to measure your door properly:
The barn door you choose needs to be slightly larger than your existing door opening, so it covers the entryway. If your doorway doesn't have a trim, measure the width of the inside of your door frame from left to right. Add at least 1” or 2" inches to this measurement.
If your doorway does have a trim, measure the width of the door frame from one edge of the trim to the other. Again, add at least 1” or 2” inches.
To measure the height of your door, you will need to measure from the floor to the top of your door frame. Add at least 1” or 2” to this measurement. If you have a door casing, you will need to measure to the top edge of your door casing. Once you have the final high of your barn door, subtract .5” to allow the barn to have the proper floor clearance.
